The workshop organised by the Policy Department A for the IMCO Committee aimed at discussing problems in the area of franchising and the impact of the EU rules on functioning of the franchising contract. Käesolevas teates antakse ülevaade Euroopa raudteesektori vertikaalsest lahususest. Selles käsitletakse nii vertikaalse lahususe eeliseid ja puudusi kui ka selle majanduslikke, käitamisega seotud ja ohutusmõjusid ning mõju kasutajatele. Erinevad vertikaalse lahususe käsitusviisid on andnud erinevaid tulemusi, millest mõnel on raudteede konkurentsivõimelisele arengule oluline positiivne mõju, mõnel aga vähem.
