A €3.5 billion Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) is poised to replace for 2014-20 the EU food aid programme that ended last year. The Fund, which is separate from the Common Agricultural Policy and applies to all Member States, is intended to alleviate the worst forms of poverty by providing non-financial assistance such as food, clothing and other essential goods to the most disadvantaged people.
