ES Aģentūra tiesībaizsardzības sadarbībai (Eiropols) ir viens no ES plašākas iekšējās drošības infrastruktūras centrālajiem elementiem. Sadarbība un politika tiesībaizsardzības jomā joprojām attīstās, un īpaša uzmanība tiek pievērsta terorisma, kibernoziedzības un citu smagu un organizētu noziegumu apkarošanai. Galvenais mērķis ir panākt drošāku Eiropu visiem ES iedzīvotājiem, ievērojot pamattiesības un datu aizsardzības noteikumus, kā to vairākkārt pieprasījis Parlaments.

Eiropas pilsoņu iniciatīva

Eiropas pilsoņu iniciatīva (EPI) ir svarīgs ES pārstāvības demokrātijas instruments, kas paver iespēju vienam miljonam ES pilsoņu, kuri pārstāv ceturto daļu dalībvalstu, aicināt Komisiju izstrādāt tiesību akta priekšlikumu nolūkā īstenot ES Līgumus. Kopš ir spēkā 2011. gada regula, ar kuru nosaka detalizētas procedūras un noteikumus attiecībā uz EPI, desmit iniciatīvas sekmīgi iesniegtas Komisijai. Ar 2020. gada janvāri spēkā ir jauni noteikumi, kas padara EPI pieejamāku.

Tiesu iestāžu sadarbība krimināllietās ir balstīta uz tiesas spriedumu un nolēmumu savstarpējas atzīšanas principu, un šī sadarbība ietver dalībvalstu tiesību aktu tuvināšanu vairākās jomās. Lisabonas līgums paredz konkrētāku krimināltiesību telpas izveides pamatu, vienlaikus Eiropas Parlamentam paredzot arī jaunas pilnvaras.

This compilation of briefings presents the most salient points and essential commitments made by the commissioners-designate during the hearings held in September/October 2014 before the parliamentary committees. These commitments concern the main on-going legislative procedures, the preparation of future legislative proposals as well as the scrutiny of the implementation of existing legislation. They also touch upon the crucial issue of inter-institutional cooperation.
