De EU heeft samenwerkingsovereenkomsten met de Samenwerkingsraad van de Golf (een regionale organisatie waartoe Bahrein, Koeweit, Oman, Qatar, Saudi-Arabië en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten behoren) en met Jemen, en een partnerschaps- en samenwerkingsovereenkomst met Irak.
