Celem unijnej polityki przemysłowej jest poprawa konkurencyjności przemysłu europejskiego, aby mógł on nadal pełnić rolę czynnika napędzającego zrównoważony wzrost i zatrudnienie w Europie. Przyjęto różne strategie, aby zapewnić przemysłowi UE bardziej sprzyjające warunki ramowe, a ostatnia z tych strategii została opisana w komunikacie z 2014 r. pt. „Działania na rzecz odrodzenia przemysłu europejskiego”.

Parliament and Council negotiators have reached a trilogue agreement on the Horizon 2020 framework research programme.
