EU fisheries agreement with Cape Verde
During the June part-session, Parliament is expected to vote on giving its consent to the conclusion of a new protocol implementing the EU fisheries agreement with the Republic of Cape Verde. The protocol allows EU vessels to fish for tunas in the waters of Cape Verde, and aims to promote a sustainable fisheries policy and sound exploitation of fisheries resources, as well as the development of Cape Verde’s blue economy.
EU-Mauritius fisheries agreement: New protocol
European Parliament consent is requested for the conclusion of a new protocol associated with the EU's fisheries agreement with Mauritius. The protocol, allowing EU vessels to fish in Mauritian waters and setting out the fishing opportunities available to the EU fleet, as well as the EU financial contribution, will be the subject of a plenary vote during the April session.

EU-Mauritania fisheries agreement: New protocol
Of all the fisheries partnership agreements currently in force, the EU-Mauritania agreement is by far the most significant in economic terms. A new protocol, setting the details for implementation of the agreement over the coming four years, was signed and entered into provisional application in November 2015. Parliament's consent is now required for the conclusion of this protocol.

EU-Morocco fisheries partnership agreement
Fisheries agreements with non-EU countries are intended to allow EU vessels to fish for surplus stocks in the third countries' exclusive economic zones in return for a financial contribution. Following expiry of the previous agreement, a new protocol between the EU and Morocco is to be voted upon in December.
EU-Mauritania fisheries partnership agreement
The EU and Mauritania have concluded several fisheries agreements, starting in 1987. The most recent expired in July 2012. To prevent interruption of fishing, the Commission negotiated a new two-year Fisheries Partnership Protocol under the EU-Mauritania FPA.

The renewal of a protocol setting fishing opportunities for EU vessels in Morocco’s waters and the corresponding level of funding for Morocco has proved controversial.
