The Social Situation of the Roma and their Improved Access to the Labour Market in the EU
The study provides an i) analysis of the status and legal definition of the Roma Community in each of the 27 Member States; ii) assessment whether directives adopted under Article 13 ECT are appropriate in order to address the needs and to improve the integration of Roma in the fields of education, employment, social inclusion, (vocational) training; iii) general overview of specific cases of best practices throughout Europe on access to the labour market, education system, decent housing, financial services (Finland, Romania, Spain, Latvia and Italy); iv) existing financial instruments supporting the inclusion of Roma in the field of employment, social inclusion, (vocational) training, the role of pensions, working poor and access to micro-credit schemes.
