Responding to repeated calls from the European Parliament to propose common Union-wide rules to facilitate the cross-border activity of non-profit organisations (NPOs), the Commission has proposed a directive on European cross-border associations (ECBAs). Parliament is due to vote on the report on this proposal, submitted by its Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI), during its March plenary session.

Verejné orgány v EÚ uzatvárajú zmluvy na práce a služby v objeme 2 448 miliárd EUR, čo ukazuje, že verejné obstarávanie je významnou hnacou silou hospodárskeho rastu, tvorby pracovných miest a inovácií. Balík opatrení v oblasti verejného obstarávania prijatý v roku 2014 zvyšuje HDP EÚ o 2,88 miliardy EUR ročne. Smernice EÚ o verejnom obstarávaní navyše viedli k zvýšeniu celkového objemu zákaziek, ktorý sa z necelých 200 miliárd EUR v roku 2009 zvýšil na približne 525 miliárd EUR v roku 2017.

Európske právo obchodných spoločností je čiastočne kodifikované v smernici (EÚ) 2017/1132 a členské štáty naďalej uplatňujú vlastné právo obchodných spoločností, ktoré občas upravujú, aby dosiahli súlad so smernicami a nariadeniami EÚ. Cieľom prebiehajúceho úsilia o vytvorenie moderného a účinného práva obchodných spoločností a rámca správy a riadenia spoločností pre európske podniky, investorov a zamestnancov je zlepšiť podnikateľské prostredie v EÚ.
