European Green Deal/Special plenary. Parliament will hold an extraordinary plenary session 13:00-15:00 (GMT) on Wednesday, at which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans will present “The European Green Deal” and the timeline of related legislative proposals to MEPs and hear their first reactions. The European Green Deal should enable Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 (Wednesday).

Climate change/COP25. A European Parliament delegation will attend the UN COP25 Climate Change Conference in Madrid. Last week, MEPs in plenary session declared a climate emergency and called on the EU to cut emissions by 55% by 2030 to become climate neutral by 2050 (Monday to Saturday).

Conference on the Future of the Europe. The Constitutional Affairs Committee will finalise its input for EP leaders (Conference of Presidents) on how to structure the upcoming Conference on the Future of Europe. The Conference, organised by Parliament, Council and Commission is to start in 2020 and run for two years. It is intended to involve a cross-section of society and give citizens the chance to contribute to the reform of the EU. (Monday).
