Plenary week at the European Parliament

MEPs are on their way to Strasbourg this morning for the secondplenary session of March 2019. Here are the highlights to look forward to.



Brexit/EU summit. MEPs will discuss the latest development regarding Brexit and other priorities of the 21-22 March EU spring summit with European Council President Donald Tusk. (Wednesday)

Copyright rules for the internet. Parliament will vote on the provisional deal, reached in February, on copyright rules for the internet, that aim to ensure the rights and obligations of copyright law are applied to the internet. (debate and vote Tuesday)

Single use plastics. MEPs are set to endorse the ban on single-use plastic items such as plates, cutlery, straws and cotton buds sticks from 2021. The law also sets a 90% collection target for plastic bottles by 2029 and by 2025, recycled material should make up 25% of each plastic bottle, increasing to 30% by 2030. (debate and vote Wednesday)
