A visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg includes the Hemicycle and the parlamentarium Simone Veil.

Groups of 10 to 75 people (larger groups may be accepted on request) can visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Groups of fewer than 10 people are considered as individual visitors. Prior booking is not available for individual visitors, while it is compulsory for groups (except for the period from July 22 to August 31). Please remember that a valid ID document is needed to enter the European Parliament.

Please note that the European Parliament is closed on Sundays, office closing days and public holidays. In 2019: 10/06, 15/08, 01/11, 02/11 and from 23/12 to 03/01/2020 included.

Individual visitors

Visit the Hemicycle at your own pace with a multimedia guide. Visits last around 60 minutes and are available in all 24 official languages of the European Union. If multimedia guides are not available then staff will be on hand to answer questions and explain features during your visit in English, French and German.

From Monday to Friday morning, entry is at given times only and limited to 75 people per entry, on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive around 30 minutes earlier.

On Friday afternoon and Saturday, continuous entry is available. See the timetable below for details.

Groups

Group visits feature a guided visit of the European Parliament, including a visit to the Hemicycle public gallery.

Visits outside plenary sessions are conducted in French, German and English.

Groups may also be able to visit the panoramic terrace, although visiting depends on a number of factors, such as weather and group size. The terrace offers a unique perspective of the European Parliament, as well as spectacular views across Strasbourg.

Booking for groups is not compulsory from July 22 to August 31.

Security

A valid identity document (ID card or passport) is required to access European Parliament buildings.

All visitors and bags are subject to airport-style security checks before entry. Firearms, explosive or inflammable substances, pepper sprays, sharp items and other objects that could be considered weapons are prohibited. In accordance with French national legislation, certain prohibited items may be handed over to the police.

Photography and filming are permitted inside the visitors’ area, but are prohibited in the security area and in the Hemicycle gallery during plenary sessions.

There is a cafeteria with refreshing beverages and tasty snacks and a gift shop in the visitors’ area. The visitors’ canteen is available to groups on reservation.

A cloakroom, located at the visitors’ entrance just after the security control point, is only available during plenary sessions.
